Any Gen X-er who grew up in the golden era of surf Any Gen X-er who grew up in the golden era of surf movies will remember this song from the groundbreaking @quiksilver movie "The Performers" when the brand was at the peak of its apex. Their team was godlike with Rabbit, Kong, Chappy, Marvin (RIP), Richard Cram, the late great Willy Morris, Wes Laine, and others I can’t recall from memory. Epic soundtrack with Pink Floyd, Rose Tattoo, Talking Heads, Simple Minds and others, which again I can’t recall (fuck man this was 40 years ago lol) but it was a brash change from the hippy drippy bullshit we endured previously in the realm of surf cinema. Years later I asked DK why they never reissued it. He said "because we used all the music with no clearance at all from the bands nor record companies." Punk as fuck. Anyway this is my tribute to that film, 40 years later I still regard it as a waypoint in surf filmmaking. #theperformers
